The Bicycle DoctorHis name is Syaikhul. He runs the workshop. He is in this industry as a bicycle mechanic for the past 9 years. He is a self-learnt mechanic that relied on library books when he picked up an interest on the technical side of a bicycle back then. That time there wasn't any videos to refer to unlike today.
He used to spent his time at a local bicycle shop, just to see the mechanic do his magic. He pick up a skill or two along the way and then try it on his own bicycle. He was close with the LBS owner and was offered a job at the shop as a understudy-mechanic. It was tough at first. Started from the low-end bicycles and making his way up. Slowly but surely, he got the hang of it and started to improve on his hand-skills & gained valuable experience along the way. After 4 years of working, he found that there was a limit to what he can do due to multiple ad-hoc instructions by his superiors. He can't serve & do his best for the customers & so he decided to venture out on my own. He now enjoy giving the utmost tender loving care to his customer's bicycles. His customers enjoy looking at the documented photos of his service process of each bicycle from their various feedback & reviews. His views and recommendations are based on his mechanical experience and a cyclist himself. To him, it's the long-term relationship & trust of the new & returning customers that is more important. |
